Number of Awards
Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Sakuko Matsui Australia-Japan Friendship Scholarships at the University of Sydney, Australia 2022-23:
Domestic Students
- Applicants must be domestic students enrolled in Japanese studies undergraduate or graduate programs in the School of Languages and Cultures of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
- Without restriction, all research on Japanese current and premodern culture, history, language, society, and literature are included.
Foreign students
- Applicants must be Japanese nationals who are studying abroad at the University of Sydney and who currently dwell at or want to move into the Women’s College.
- The following student types will be given higher preference to earn the scholarship, in order of preference:
- Individuals pursuing postgraduate study at home who want to visit Japan for their studies there.
- domestic research undergraduate or graduate students who can prove a need for financial assistance.
- Students enrolled in domestic postgraduate research programs who are residents of the Women’s College and who want to visit Japan for their study will be traveling.
- candidates from outside Japan who now reside at or plan to relocate to the Women’s College
