The Hong Kong Government is inviting applications for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Program for Higher Education Abroad A fellowship scheme run by the Research Grants Council offers overseas students from around the world 300 PhD Degree awards and Admission to Hong Kong Higher Institutions.

The Hong Kong government offers many scholarships and fellowships for overseas students every year. Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2023-2024 is also one of these fellowships. ILETS is not required for this fellowship if your last academic course is in English language. English language test is compulsory only for students whose previous education is not in English. Award Benefits:

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2023/24 is a Full Free Fellowship program for International Students. The Doctoral Fellowship will cover the following:

• A HK$325,200 (about US$41,690) yearly stipend
• A HK$13,600 conference and research-related travel allowance

Eligibility Requirements:

• For Ph.D. Degree Programs, candidates Should be Completed, Masters.
• Age restriction: At the time of application, you must be no older than 40 years old for a PhD.

• ILETS or TOFEL if Your last educational course is not in English.

All of the necessary documents listed below must be uploaded during the electronic application process. Details are provided in the following few lines:

• For Ph.D. Degree Transcript of Masters is mandatory.
• Students who have completed a Bachelor’s degree are eligible to enroll for a straight Ph.D. program. This Fellowship is open to both Master’s/MPhil and Bachelor’s degree holders who want to apply.
• Passport for International Students.
• Short Resume/CV.
• The motivational letter or Statement of purpose.
• Study Plan or Research Proposal for Ph.D. candidates only.
• Two Recommendation Letters.
• English Proficiency Certificate from the last institute of education.
• ILETS if your previous degree/course is not in the English language.

Application Timeline:

The deadline to apply for Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2023/24 (Fully Funded) for International Students is 1st December 2022.

Apply Procedure for Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme:

Before applying for Ph.D. admission to their preferred universities, qualified applicants must first submit an Initial Application online via the Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship Scheme Electronic System (HKPFSES) to acquire an HKPFS Reference Number by December 1, 2022, at 12:00:00 Hong Kong Time.

STEP 1: Submit the application firstly to the research gran council:

Applications will be accepted after September 1, 2022, at 12:00 noon Hong Kong time.

STEP 2: Submit the application for Selected University:

Applicants should submit full applications for their chosen Ph.D. programs to the recommended institutions using their HKPFS Reference Number before the universities’ respective deadlines after completing an initial application.
